How to Use Tap a Deal Guide

Step 1: Sign Up

  1. Download and Install: Download the Tap a Deal app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Sign Up: Open the app and choose to sign up as either a vendor or a user. Enter your email address and create a password.
  3. Verify Email: Check your email for a verification link from Tap a Deal. Click the link to verify your email.
  4. Log In: Once verified, log in with your email and password.
  5. Explore: Start exploring deals, places, and events.

User Mode

Home Screen

  • Filter Category Icons: Easily filter deals by category using the icons at the top.
  • Featured Deals: See featured deals prominently displayed with an option to view all featured deals.
  • All Places Feed: Browse through the list of all places, with an option to view all.
  • Food Trucks Button: Access a map showing the locations of food trucks around Townsville.

Navigation Menu (Bottom)

  • Home Icon: Return to the home screen.
  • Feed Icon: Find the latest news about the app, including new places, venue openings, events, and must-see deals.
  • Deals Icon: Locate exclusive deals. Scroll through all available deals, and click on a deal to see its details and claim it.
  • Places Icon: Find every place, store, or vendor. View more information about each vendor and toggle between their details and current deals.
  • Events Icon: Discover free and paid events. Browse by calendar date or in list form, and switch between map and list views.
  • Wallet Icon: Track all the deals you’ve used and see how much money you’ve saved using Tap a Deal.
  • Profile Icon: View and edit your account details, including adding a profile picture, referring friends, deleting your account, and logging out or switching to vendor mode.

Using the App Features

Deals

  • Browse Deals: Scroll through featured and all available deals.
  • Deal Details: Click on a deal to see its name, brief description, expiration time, price, or savings.
  • Claim Now: Scroll down and click "Claim Now" to claim the deal. This deal will be saved in your account until you are ready to redeem it.
  • Redeem in Store: Once in the store, click "Redeem Now" and present the deal to the vendor. The vendor will either scan the QR code via their app or provide a code for you to enter. Only click "Redeem Now" in front of the vendor.
  • Claimed Deals: If you claim a deal but are not ready to redeem it, you can come back later. You will see a "Claimed" icon in the Deals page, where you can go to redeem the deal once in store.

Map and Search

  • Map/List Mode: In the top right-hand corner, switch between map mode and list mode.
  • Search Icon: Search for specific deals, places, and events.

Places

  • Browse Places: Click on any place to find more information about the vendor, including current deals.
  • Vendor Details: In the details section, find options to call the place, view their location on a map, see their operating hours, visit their website and social media links, and read a brief description about the place.

Events

  • Free and Paid Events: Find free and paid events. Browse by calendar date or in list form.
  • Map/List View: Toggle between map and list view.
  • Search Events: Use the search icon to find specific events.
  • Add Your Own Event: Go to the "My Events" page to add a new event.
    • Add New Event: Click "Add New Event" and enter the location using the map or search bar.
    • Event Details: Input all event details, including images, category, title, date, time, description, and whether it is a paid or free event.
    • Submit Event: Click "Add Event" to successfully add it to the calendar for everyone to see.

Wallet

  • Track Savings: The wallet page will tally up all the deals you have used and show you how much money you have saved using Tap a Deal.

Profile

  • User Profile: View your username and profile picture.
  • Edit Account Details: Update your account information, add a profile picture, refer friends to earn points, delete your account, log out, or switch to vendor mode.

Vendor Mode

  1. Create and Manage Deals: Add and update your deals easily.
  2. Track Performance: Use built-in analytics to monitor the success of your deals.
  3. Engage with Users: Interact with customers who claim and redeem your deals.

Tap a Deal Vendor Guide

Step 1: Sign Up and Log In

  1. Download and Install: Download the Tap a Deal app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Sign Up:Open the app and sign up as a vendor. Enter your email address and create a password.
  3. Verify Email: Check your email for a verification link from Tap a Deal. Click the link to verify your email.
  4. Log In:Once verified, log in with your email and password.

Step 2: Switch to Vendor Mode

  1. Profile Menu: If you’re not already in vendor mode, head to the profile menu at the bottom right corner of the screen.
  2. Switch to Vendor Mode: Tap "Switch to Vendor Mode."

Step 3: Navigate the Vendor Dashboard

  1. Top Menu: You’ll see a slide menu at the top with options: Places, Trucks, Deals, and Requests.
  2. Manage Data: Use this menu to add, modify, and view your own data.

Step 4: Add a Place

  1. Add New Place: Tap the "Add New" button on the top right-hand side.
  2. Search Location: Type in your address or scroll through the map to find your location. Select "Continue."
  3. Select Category: Choose the category your business falls under (Services, Dining, Travel, Play, Health and Fitness, Retail/Shopping, Beauty, or Hair). These are represented by icons.
  4. Upload Media: Upload your logo and some images to be displayed on your business page.
  5. Enter Details:
    1. Place Title: Enter your business name.
    2. Address: Type in your address (maps will auto-fill this soon).
    3. Description: Write a brief description of your place.
    4. Social Links: Add your social media links (click the + icon to add multiple).
    5. Phone Number: Enter your phone number so customers can call you directly from the app.
    6. Website: Enter your website URL.
    7. Open Times and Availability: Select the days your business is open and click "Proceed."
    8. Submit: Once all information is correct, hit the "Submit" button, then continue.

Step 5: Manage Your Place

  1. View Place: Your place will now appear in the list below. Click on the place you just added to view details.
  2. Edit Details: If you need to make changes, hit the settings cog icon in the top right corner.

Step 6: Add a Deal

  1. Switch to Deals Menu: From your place, switch to the Deals menu at the top.
  2. Add New Deal: Tap "Add New Deal."
  3. Enter Deal Details:
    1. Image: Add an image for your deal.
    2. Title: Enter a title for your deal.
    3. Start and Expiry Dates: Set the start and expiry dates for the deal.
    4. Supply: Enter the number of times this deal can be claimed (use 100000 for unlimited).
    5. Description: Write a brief description of the deal.
    6. Claim Times: Set how many times a user can claim this deal (use 1000000 for unlimited).
    7. Price: Add a price for the deal, if applicable.
    8. Submit Deal: Tap "Add New Deal" and select "Continue."

Step 7: Manage Deals

  1. View Deals: Your deals will now appear under the Deals menu.
  2. Edit or Delete Deals: Click the trash can icon in the top right corner to delete a deal or hit the back arrow to navigate.

Step 9: Manage Place Requests

  1. Requests Menu: Toggle to the Requests menu to see if admin has rejected your place of business.
  2. Approval: Tap a Deal auto-approves businesses but checks daily and has the right to reject a place if it is found to be fraudulent or not abiding by our terms and conditions.

Step 10: Additional Features

  1. Feed: Access useful information, latest news, and events. See if you need to cater or add a special deal during an event.
  2. Wallet: Track how much business you’ve done through users claiming deals via Tap a Deal.
  3. Profile: Update your profile details, refer friends, switch modes, and more.
